The Fall

With feet flat on the ground

I'm stable and allowed

To wonder all around

Independant and free

How does one have a 'fall'

When they stand so very tall?

Age is disregarded

When the heart is cold and hardened

The ground is distant and unforgiving

Like the number I'm labelled with - not long for the living

The light dims in the candle's eye

No time for life but time to die

I fear for the day

When a fall takes me away
