On an Autumnal mellowed evening

entry picture

Blackbirds vocal intermittences

smoothly pleasing the listeners ear

tenebrously feathered performer

singing late into the dreamily fading light

I can but sit and be audibly pleasured!

How unrushed and calming the sound

fitting in so well

with occasional quills of chimney smoke

lazing their ways into the stilled air.

Although an ending is at hand

it will be the ending of something quite beautiful

that I have been priviledged enough to have been part of

and hopefully will be again

God willing.

Thanks Grace.
There's a lot of trees around our street...and nothing more gorgeous than the song of the blackbirds singing us to our rest in the evening.

Grace, your poetry pulls me into the experience of what you are describing, so well written. I like the ending of this poem: "God willing." We don't know what is in store, but we hope for the best.

A pleasant, peaceful poem. Looks like you are quite a nature observer, Grace. I'm enjoying reading all your poems.
Thank you.
