Firework

Firework that never fell to earth

Rifling through unbounded space,

Its short-lived gift snuffed out at birth,

Somewhere in time a puzzled face.

Abandoned Mother walks alone

Head bowed and turned from sated skies.

A life of Joy not ever known,

Silence pools in drowning eyes.

Onward into the fruitless womb,

The distant pull as all hopes fade,

The Sweet release won’t come too soon

When both might share the void they made.
