I haven't been myself

For quite some time

I think I was lost in the last of the grounds

I tossed out of my tin cup years ago

But for some reason I kept wondering

If there was something more

Mixing in the grass

The dust of the past

Of the person I thought I was

So many loops to return to what I spurned

To what had faded as my desires burned

And now I have it dusted off

Putting out the fires that had already begun to sputter and smoke

Nothing more glorious than those old ropes

Cared for and woven and hung as a hammock

Laying in the sun

Its brilliant light jewels between leaves

This was it

This was peace
