NERVOUS CONVERSATIONS

 

Trees don’t grass,

don’t tell what lovers

say when darkness falls,

stripping  down to those

bare necessities shaded

by the new green foliage

behind the cover of later

 

eventide. A twig might

snap triggered by a fox.

Or, ‘could it have been

something spookier than

that’, she said, restoring

her readier undergarments

by rapidily going off the boil
