‘VR War; what is it good for?’

VR War; what is it good for?’

Older men declare war; it is our youth that must fight and die.

It is easy dying for your country... The hard part is killing for it.

This Christmas, many children will want the latest vivid VR war games.

VR ‘Virtual Reality’…

As if this will give any semblance of what war and killing truly are.

Wars have been fought since the beginning of time.

To die is to die, it’s the same every time.

The only thing that changes is the method whereby

We come to our end, the way that we die.

Now a button pressed remotely, wherever it is pressed

Can cause death and destruction at the user’s behest.

The game console and headset place ‘you’ at the scene

But imbues nothing of the carnage and death so obscene

Detached and desensitised to the realities of war

I can’t help but wonder if it’s there ‘Raison d'être.’

Some boys thing😉

Not into gaming thing. Find nothing entertaining. Destroying minds of little children. Causing aggression, frustration, violence and hatred to develop.

VR or War..... Utterly destructive

Thank you for commenting V.

The lads used to plug their iPods in the Jackal 2 fighting vehicles whilst engaging the emery it was just another game to them till they came upon an IED.

Just one little IED can spoil your whole day.

You can't just hit the reset or game over button.

"It is easy dying for your country... The hard part is killing for it." Powerful words Paul. War has taken on a whole different meaning in this new age. VR will open the door to virtual weapons of mass destruction. Mind blowing! I have always loved technology, but like many things in life it is a double-edged sword. Great thought-provoking piece.
