MORNING PARADE

The RSM bawled as men

stood tall in the ranks - then

a squadron of tanks clanked

by on the flanks of the parade

ground - afterwards you could

hear a pin drop - and the WO1

ratched up his abusive words

scaring the life out of those newly

enlisted men - all wondering, what

act of devilry was coming next

Somewhere, in one of the many abandoned army barracks, not far from where I live, and where weeds grow through the cracks in the asphalt - those sounds may still be imagined when passing by on the train - and taking me, if only in memory, to more zestful times.

Thanks for commenting Keith and for joining me in memory lane.

For me this poem echoed the past.
