TAMARIND

Despite your unattractiveness

you are as sweet and sour as

the night - you are slit by the

paring knife separating your

many seeds - pandering as you

do to needs of sophisticated

taste. You are the lingering

song hovering on my tongue.

You are the gong of mystery,

dancing in my melodic mind

Hi Kevin, thanks for that, interesting.

My motivation for writing this was based on the use of the word when part of the title of a mystery story.

Seen in that context, Tamarind has a mystic sort of feel to it and especially so by some of us Brits.

I think being as sweet and sour as the night rams home my message.

Thanks again and for kindly commenting.

I don't know if it's cultural, but us Chinese from Java Indonesia really don't like that fruit! lol
it's funny though to read a poem about it. I'm all for mystery!

To linger in one’s mind seems a worthy sacrifice of beauty. Great poem Philipos! 🔥
