Remember, remember

The twinkling, crashing blue of my dreams

Has morphed into the calm, glowing green

Of my early morning window scene

I am at the mercy of my mind

But I will win even if I'm lost in time

And I will fight

That need I feel to run astray

I have no power in slumber

But awake I rule my thoughts

It's been a long war

My heart battle-scarred

And soon it will be over

And then I think

I'll retire

From caring about more

Than my own little grounds

On a hill and around

Trying for peace

Hoping for ease

And maybe rebuilding

The destruction

A poem which unfolds as the reader takes stock of what the writer is saying. It is a poem to arouse in all of us the journey of life and its consequences on our souls. A good piece of work and thank you for it.
