At the World Of Birds

they seek a skilful Beak.

One not seeking to feather

nests for personal gain but

looking to wider injustices

of being continuously confined

24/7 and deprived of liberty

without trial or lawful appeal

which could entitle them to

soar as Golden Eagles, utterly

unfettered by constraints.

Can't stand Sea World kind of places, or penguins in Genoa acquarium. When you see in documentaries what they are really like in their natural habitat it is heartbreaking, a life sentence. Good writing.

Me thinks Grey Beard misplaced faith in human to care for his creatures.

Totally agree Keith - I was treated to this visit but the morality of it all worried me.

They argue that with traffic in exotic birds now at a peak, collections of this kind are a sort of living DNA from poaching in the wider world sphere of illicit trade.

My heart went out to these poor exotic creatures so encaged.

Thanks for the input, and to Shifa for the like.

Appreciated. P. 👍

The second stanza is for me the very reason I detest zoos of any kind. Sea World in San Diego, California is a clear example of animal abuse. Dolphins made to perform for those incapable of entertaining themselves.
Good poem

Went there yesterday and almost got pattern bombed through the cage. I nearly streaked. 😝
