Half of the World

entry picture

sometimes I feel so frustrated

That I can't find the words for my feelings

That I feel like I'm such a fraud

And I contradict myself

and try to rewrite everything with rhyme

or look for your validation, your approval of my soul

my stanzas and my gibberish: the wannabe Allen Ginsberg-like howl sounds more like a pathetic whimper

a lack of vocabulary enmeshed in gross erroneous grammar spellings

only fit for third-world country underdeveloped English

That's actually still half of the world

Ginsberg's Howl was my first poetry book purchase and inspired my passion to become a poet. "If only I could write like him" crosses my mind still.

This is a moving piece in the struggle not only to find a voice but to realize the voices of many are valid even though they don't fit the mainstream.

This is great Kevin. Very layered, and so much to leave me thinking about in so few words. 😃

This is bloody great Kevin.

Keep posting stuff like this and even you will read it and weep, saying "I wish I could write stuff like this"
