Without Him

She'll think of him today
Curled up and fast asleep
Breathing gently in her arms
Under bright and twinkling stars
Smiling softly in his dreams

She'll think of him today
His little laugh and precious grin
The way he talked, the way he slept
The day he took his real first step
And wiping chocolate off his chin

And she will wonder where the time's gone
Wonder just what happened
Question where she went wrong
Second guess her actions
And while she knows it's not her fault
She wonders how she will survive this

She can't even begin to imagine
A normal life without him

She'll think of him today
A million moments have gone by
Since she found him in the bedroom
Lying colder than the weather
And knew she'd say her last goodbye

She'll think of him today
The way she kissed his sleeping face
She'll never once forget the feeling
She's only begging for some healing
A second chance or saving grace

And she'll wonder where the time's gone
Wonder just what happenedĀ
Question where she went wrong
Second guess her actions
And while she knows it's not her fault,
She wonders how she will survive this

She can't even begin to imagine
A normal life without him

She'll think of him today
In the way she holds her sleeping daughter
That little crease between her brows
Her gentle smile and little frown
Looking so much like her father

She'll think of him today
A few more tears will surely fall
Living every day without him
Brings it's challenges and doubts
But she knows love will save them all

But still she'll wonder where the time's gone
Wonder just what happened
Question where she went wrong
And second guess her actions
While she knows it's not her fault
She wonders how they will survive this

She can't even begin to imagine
A normal life without him.
