I do my best work when I'm cold

I do my best work when I'm cold.

I tried - I curled up in a ball

With a blanket by the fire

But quickly, I changed my mind

And headed outside.

An old man, in passing, hobbled by

And inquired as to why.

I do my best work when I'm cold,

I replied,

Some of us are like that.

I do my best work when the sky hurls

And swirls snowflakes like ashes,

Ashes, we all fall down and cry -

Not me, never I;

I just pick up my pen and write.

Blessing or curse, I never could decide,

I never could explain exactly why;

Some of us are just like that. And I -

I do my best work when I'm cold.
