The End

The End

Stayed in
locked in
confined
restricted
constricted
conflicted
afflicted

coughing persisting
fighting
resisting
COVID and you coexisting

wishing
kissing
distant
sniffing
resisting
transmission
lonely existence

insistent
persistence
breathing restricted
going out resisted

poetry written
smitten
bitten
risen
spitting
sickened
admitted
committed
submitted

ventilator fitted

disconnected

The end.

Good morning V

What a super day it is here in Albion.
The sun is blazing, the birds are singing
What a joy our poetry is bringing

Countless souls stuck inside
Let's bring some light where people hide
Hide, away from 'the virus'
To venture out most undesirous

So write on my poetic writing friend
Until this 'Virus' has met 'its' end!

Po

I entered five...
Best of luck with all your submissions.

Thanks for nudging me in that direction.

Writing for good causes is my favorite thing to do! I submitted one, but five are permitted, so let’s write on!

Hi V

Well no, I don't really do competitions as a rule.

Perhaps I should, just for the fun of it.

I will check it out tomorrow.

Perhaps I can join um... AND beat um!

Thank you for your support and encouragement.

Hi M.C

The old ones are the old one's mate... and they don't get much older than us.

Long may we continue to plague the readership of WOL. LOL

Oh well...to join in with an adaptation of an old bit of gallows humour:
It IS the cough that carries you off
In the coffin they carry you off in! 💐

Hi Abdul

When your time is up... Your time is up!
or
Down... Oh! Noooooooooooo.

I tend to not watch the news much these days...

The constant regurgitation gave my covindigestion.

In the round the clock news world we exist in there is no escape from this pandemic. The prophets of doom can't resist filling peoples minds with dread and fear.

Your poem reflects the reality of these times.

Hi P

You are 100% correct my friend.

This curse is a blessing in disguise, for countless reasons.

The comradeship and kinship, the environment, the selflessness'.

The way it has opened far more doors than it has locked.

Slowly we will emerge form the confines of our own little worlds and together bond in a whole new way of appreciation for what we have... and hopefully I pray, more awareness of what so many others do not have.

Hi Po - I think WOL has given a lot of us a great sense of companionship during this lockdown - it's a launch pad to the outside world - been a great help to many of us I'm sure. P 👍

Hi M.g

Yes sadly for some.

Life goes on for most of us.
It is an easy topic for poetry I guess.

THIS is the perfect time to write poetry... To read poetry.

To be inspired and to inspire others.

You are so right about getting more of what we focus on btw.

I have tried to resist the Covid poetry bug

With so much to choose as a topic or subject for poetry, poetry sites seem to have all contracted this dreaded COVID poetry bug.

I just thought if you can't beat um join um.

The sun is shining the birds are singing
The buds are bursting forth with new life

and yet

We become fixated on death and strife.

Poets are a weird bunch (well some of us are).

I am off into the garden to enjoy the day

"Carpe diem"
