And the host tonight is...

And the host tonight is...

i lied i stole i cheated

i’m having lots of fun

ripping air from your body

attacking healthy lungs

you think i can not see you

standing in the crowd

let me tell a secret

if i am allowed.

I will not stop at doors

if you allow me in

when you venture out

then my fun begins

i drift upon the breeze

until i find a host

then when you take a breath

well i’m not one to boast

but i’m great at what i do

i spread myself around

Cos trust me there is always

someone to be found

who thinks they are safe

or stronger than i am

i attack grown men

and babies in their pram

young and old are far game

the healthy and the sick

for i am a biohazard

and truly indiscriminate

I can wait my turn

as you stand in the queue

wherever you may go

I’ll be waiting there for you

resting on the handles

on the keypads you all touch

just lightly brush on past me

it does not take me much

i truly am insidious

invaisive and extream

Oh and by the way

i can not be seen

Silent and invisibly

i’m reaching far and near

i am speading death

and trust me lots of fear

Oh! how i laugh

adding victims to my toll

go on talk a walk

i’ll stalk you as you stroll

on every street in town

in shops wherever you go

in valleys and up mountains

in the Palace and grotto

there is nowhere you can hide

attacking rich and poor a like

watch my numbers grow

as they truly escalate

I’m nowhere near my spike

despite what experts spout

when will this horror end

many of you shout

well i have a weakness

that i never will disclose

i always need a host

so don’t be one of those

Hi, Vautaw you say...

It sounds like the beginning of a horror story.
I wish I could write horror stories they hold much suspense
People do like being sacred... if evil gets its comeuppance

I can’t believe it’s true. Surreal.

Surreal it is V, not so much dreamlike more a living nightmare.
Your comment about the Spanish flu is a good observation, I can not begin to imagine what the Black Death was like, nor come to that the spread of aids due to invading occupying soldiers who rape indiscriminately with impunity...

Unlike this virus however hearing/seeing them advancing must grip one with utter fear and terror.

Poetry is a way to keep history alive. All Wars throughout history have had their great poets to document for future generations the true horrors experienced bringing to some degree the past to life.

I strongly believe you are right V
Your continued support and far more importantly for me, your well thought out comments...
Which inspired me to keep going down that road less travelled, knowing you have my back. ;)

This is a war we will win!
Thank you
Po

Sounds like a beginning of a horror story. I can’t believe it’s true. Surreal. I’m sure we will learn many lessons from this experience and poems like this will document unique observations for future generations that will no more understand what we went through than we can understand those that had to endure the Spanish flu. Creative piece Po. I like poems like this that make us think differently and start conversation about important and timely topics. 🖤

Long and hard for a nano second
it took to find a word

Try this to rhyme with flog
Po is the Master... Po is the demagogue!

Serious first. A well-rhymed piece of information. The question I am faced with is how much can I rhyme-flog this topic? Even if my tongue is in cheek?

Do. Tell your feet to shut the door before going though to prevent them dragging your body through. If you don't have doors you got a problem.

My bed is pointing to Po
The window in my room
So I can depart through it
But hopefully not soon

Do always remember 'Its never too late'

There are exceptions to this rule... however none of these apply to you.

My feet running out of the room pulling my body along....don't know how to stop it, have none to keep me hold.....taking good vs. Bad decisions of late...regrets only often come when its too late

Abdul even holding ones breath will not help as sooner or later if you want to survive you must take a breath.

We must always hold on to the fact that most will have no issues with the virus and will soon shake it off.

We have a phrase here in Albion, the good old UK that goes...

'They will have to carry me out feet first'

This is a reference to the fact that when a body is carried out of a house it is always carried out feet first.... or when it is taken from the bedroom, which is why some people have their bed facing towards to door to do just that.

It is a combination of tradition and superstition... (Not that i hold with all that nonsense ;)

Some people believed that if a dead person is taken out of the room head first, it will return and haunt that room. So they made it a rule to take the body of a dead person out of a room feet first.

Over the years, as the practice is always followed that way, it has become standard procedure Do.

The lurgy brutally psychoanalized. Don' t hold your breath and suffocate. Accept the fact that all things came to an end.
