THE COMPASS ROSE

As a navigating tool it

helps mankind circulate

the oceans of the world.

True north the value of

it. As a classic wartime

film it lingers in my mind

survivor’s clinging to

an overloaded raft, their

ship so named honouring

ingenuity. Under the

Spreading Chestnut Tree

survivors sing, swinging

their sorry arms to keep

full steam ahead their

faltering circulation. A

sell out at the cinemas.

I house a copy of it still.
