Samples

Requiem for a Daisy With callous hand I hath thee smote And left thee thus to rot Hath plucked away thine petticoat to find She loves me not 17 Straight A's One Summer's morn on our front lawn A fawn was born. We named him Shaun We had asked for a unicorn But our request was met with scorn Still, not for long were we forlorn As from a rose a thorn was torn And placed upon the head of Shaun "Behold!" we cried, "our uni-fawn!" Oh, short-lived joy, accursed false dawn As if from nowhere men of brawn Came telling tales of Devil's spawn And grabbing Shaun held fast his horn And laughed as it was roughly sawn So fragments of it now adorn The borders of our uncut lawn Disarmed and helpless little Shaun Exsanguinated... how we mourn

Hi Alana,
Thanks for your kindnesses... 'smote' is as in the past tense of the (old english?) verb 'to smite'. Technically I think it means 'to hit', but the verse is intentionally overwrought and pretentious so I thought the malapropism appropriate. Enjoyed your profile samples although I haven't read them all yet. Will leave a comment or two when I have. I've not been active on the site for a long while. Time to get back into the swim.
Take care
Tim
