Hello, I have been a poet for the last 25 years. My poems are based on real life experiences. Poetry allows me to express myself. Besides writing poetry, I also enjoy pencil sketching in my spare time.

Hateful World

Published: 2011 – The Ground’s Ear Contemporary Verse from Southern Africa Sorrow understands a painful life All it recognizes is fear and strife Why does the world hate imperfection? I will never be part of its collection But, how can I end this intense bind With a solid heart and sound mind? I believe the heart generates hope In countless ways to help us cope When will the world understand? That all I need is a helping hand The pain became too much to bear Why was there no one to really care? A selfless being could not be found In the world I searched around A wall of protection I had built To hide the ever increasing guilt Of not being the person they want All I became was someone to taunt To the heavens I began to look For what the world unkindly took It was there I found freedom at last All that remained was my distant past

Hi Neressa, thanks for the lovely comment on Jetty Song. I had fun writing that one. I started working my way through your poems yesterday and I love your style and passion. Missing Life is particularly good. I'll try and catch up with more when I can. Thanks, Tom 😃

Thank you for the encouragement. I became very demotivated over the years to write as most readers don't appreciate rhyme, so I recently started to move away from this, however its nice to hear that there are some people out there that still appreciate this style of writing. I've been writing poetry since I was 15, but I unfortunately did not retain my past work, as I didn't have the confidence and I felt my writing needed work. I will consider your suggestion and keep you updated!

That is exactly what I thought when I tried looking for true poetry readers in the US. No one I know actually reads it as a past time, and the only form of wordplay people like here is shitty rap.

I think to be writing for so long with an established style such as yours, you'd do great on an anthology. More poetry needs to be put to the page now than ever before. Poetry isn't dead yet, but in the UK, the readers are everywhere. I have just released my second anthology, and have sold a few copies overseas (in the UK), and the only ones I have sold here in the US are to close family.

Just because your country does not count it as valid, does not mean it is true. It'd be great to see what you can do in book form. I always encourage people to try it and see what happens. 25 years writing? Wow, you've been writing longer than I've been alive! You definitely need to compile your best work into something, it'd be a treat to read.

However you choose to do it though, I'm sure you'll do fine. Good luck on your endeavors.?

Hi Big Sal thank you for your comments and appreciation of my work? Poetry is just a past time for me, a form of expression. I entered a poetry competition a while back and one of my poems was published, but to answer your question, I don't have a poetry book published - never considered this as an option, as poetry is hardly recognized in South Africa (my homeland).

Some great pieces you put out so far. Great consistency in your writing style. Do you have a poetry book published?
