Biography

I'm a new old poet. Dipping my toe in the water for the first time. So, when I feel at home I may tell you more!

Samples

Adventure Sleeping soundly - noise awoke Breakfast finished adventure promised Off he went to start his day Smart and bright and full of hope Down the steps and through the field Past the beech along the hedge To get through without delay Finding things to make his day Wire and fence would not stop him Adventure was his aim today He tried to see if he’d get through Even risk his body mind and limb With legs that were so short yet strong Bulky form he had and not much height. But spring in each determined step A head of hair both gold and white The hard road beckoned, down he went Through the gate and up the path Into territory never seen Going along with bated breath Into places that were new Hearing sounds and wanting home Feet were wet, hair was ruffled All sense and sound completely muffled Someone saw him creeping round Making hardly any sound Spotted by his bright white hair Someone saw him hiding there Feeling hungry and so wet Into someone’s house he crept Finding food that had been left Eating things they meant for others Now the dwellers saw him there Hiding under soft warm chair Belly full but still afraid Not understanding what was said Wanting to go home again Couldn’t tell them where he lived Now he knew he’d count the cost Fearing that his home was lost Sounds came out but did not mean Anything to those who heard Fearful looks were all he saw Trying to push him through the door Then they spotted silver jewel Meant to save him if he strayed Something that would help him home Phone this number and they’ll come So the day was now at end Going so far was not so good He was grateful for old ties Home is where the comfort lies.

Maggie, I feel like God is looking over our shoulders. How wonderful to receive your comment on 'So There!' Six years since the last connection. Wow!

Dip those toes
Make them splash
Take the plunge
If too cold
Resurface double quick
Then wait till
Warm waters flow
Before diving in
The poetry pool.
