I am a visual artist and writer, working from my studio at home in Edinburgh. I often combine my poetry with my visual art, incorporating it into my collages and videos. I am interested in light, shade and boundaries of all kinds. You can see more of my art at www.jillashforthartist.co.uk and my YouTube channel.
Last Breath Inky black, blackness seeping Into the soft smudged twilight sky. Trees bow down as if In prayer, dusting the Clouds away. Gently touching the Skyline to wake It out of sleep. Lights flicker in and Out of focus, rooftops Jostle with one another In the gloom. Dark beckons. The last breath Before night falls. Walking slowly, limping as An injured animal might, Feeling the night air clammy on The back of ones neck And the palms of ones hands. Up the gentle slope Of the avenue, Trees guarding the path. Street lamps glimmer Like fluorescent lollipops in the Distance, flickering and Burning bright. Close now, hidden Amongst the trees, Black, inky closeness Closing in. Pitch black ... too late. Night has fallen, And the last Breath, Gone.
