     Within the realms of madness

I look infinity in the eye,

     My hands outstretched to cushion

A fall into a darkened state

But the fall is never ending,

Never ceasing or explaining

Only,

     Infinity’s unwelcome grin.

 

     Downwards I continually plummet,

Like a Halo Jumper

With no parachute,

     No DZ below,

………today I thought I could,

I really wanted to

And I almost did,

But then I hid beneath

The covers and declared

The morning lost.

 

     Midday came,

I thought of food –

Maybe a cup of tea

To wake me from my slumber,

But the kitchen seemed too distant

To venture, too cold

And far removed from warmth.

On Drink

 

I drink like I’m a bastard,

Some say it suits me thus,

A soldiers quarrel with hard knock life,

And feelings bordering gluttonous,

 

Yet inside of me the clown refrains,

Let’s sorrow evolve its incubus,

Gives depressive daily states of pain;

The tears that bleed for all of us!

     I prove myself favoured in comedy,

Not even consciously,

Aside from my own wit

There is a clown of a protégé,

Someone for those to howl at,

Someone to grin at

As they pass my ill gait

Walking streets no longer caring,

     And I will never forgive
