The Cat Who Forgot How To Miaow

I came across my ex in the cat food aisle.

We spoke yet remained unheard.

Nothing changes.

We have forgotten how to talk.

Conversations littered our marriage.

Like unwanted debris, words missed their mark,

missed their meaning.

Missed connections breed

and pollute our lives like an illness.

And now even our cat,

stands silent at the door:

the cat who forgot how to ...
