Poetry Blog by Jill Ashforth (Water)
Candle light cuts through a haze of steam
bringing warmth and hope in the darkness.
Moisture glistens in tiny droplets
that linger momentarily before they drop.
Ripples of light wriggling in the water
weave beautiful patterns,
beckoning me to plunge into the bath.
...I am at peace.

Obliterating opaqueness opens up into sunlight.
Spiders of colour
smudge the ocean.
Lapping water creates islands
of shimmering, fuzzy warmth.
It is freeing yet connecting.
I sputter and splash amongst the crevices of land.
Floating, I am curious.
I breathe a light, cooling tranquility
and gaze as I am gently held in a sheer, cooling calm.

Damp and beautiful,
bubbles, rings rippling in the deep, waters deep.
Damp light, patches of pink, yellow and blue,
moving along the rain soaked path.
Umbrellas bobbing, dogs snuffling amongst the leaves, sniffing.
The smell of damp, dirt and soft wood drifting through the air.
Colour, damp and beautiful in the light.
Berries glow, jewels amongst the leaves.
Flowers strewn ...
