Shell game / the nowhere poems

While day dreaming  on

our favorite beach,

I stopped then

picked up

a  peculiar

shell that most

reminded me

 of you,

and put it to

my heart....

silence...

not even

the slightest

stir of

of somebody home

to greet me.

you had

apparently left

 long ago.

from this beach

that we used to

walk incessantly

for hours upon

Angel fall / the nowhere poems

sun melting.

cats empty
bellies
meowing
on the back
kitchen porch
window.

basket of
dead flowers
decorate
what's left
of "I will
love
you
forever".
on my desk

a dozen
half-scratched
poems
pile up

on one
another

like old
drunken
friends
at a college
reunion
party.

and I
bear the
weight of
it all like

a black
knight
vanquished
from
provenance.

I no...

Rides / the nowhere poems

Your arms
held
open

to catch
your fall.

all around
you
falling stars
crashing
down,

and burning
out in
black
embers
in your
eyes.

changes
coming
through
you hard,

like storms
in a
season.

everywhere,

collateral
damage
without
names.

but I
know it
is always
you.

as you
sit and pray
in your
mahogany
bedroom
closet.

and hope
and dream
naked in your
pill...

a DAY IN L.A. / THE NOWHERE POEMS

A day where

 nothing fits.

lying in my room

sifting through

gypsy thoughts

of running away

to perform in a

carnival

with you.

getting a little

annoyed with

my pillow and the

fat cat sleeping

in the middle

of it.

listening

for your voice,

but I can't

hear it.

and just over

 the hill,

I travel

maybe today

I will arr...

Last dance / the nowhere poems

and the
broken bitch
screamed
in siren
tones,

and I laughed
at her from
across her
unkept
room.

visions of
jack daniels
stumbled in
our merry
heads, like
Vikings
wearing
stone heeled
sandals pounding

hard.

she was
for the
taking
and I took
her.

then threw
her back

 like an

old fish
dying upon
a fisherman's dock,

gasping her
last breath

from her toba...

Last conversation / the nowhere poems

Jagged and

scarred

memories

draped over me,

now like a

spiders  cocoon,

 before birth

tight with evil

reckoning.

Your voice

still, echoes on

the telephone

 line,

the phone

 receiver held

close to

 my ear,

my mind

lost in the dead

calm of

silence.

last words

spoken,

penny jar

gone broke.

Flight / the nowhere poems

You are a

bird with no

feet.

he made

sure of that.

he cut them off

and then

left you

to bleed out

upon his

demon bed.

now as

the wind brushes

back your

torn and

red stained

feathers

and tempers

your sorrow

cry.

it welcomes

you too.

to return

to  the sky

that you have

fallen from,

and...

Pieces of you / the nowhere poems

Empty out

 my pockets,

love's over

 time to

 go home.

retreat to the

 silence of the

empty night

that is no longer

 filled with you.

pull out a

sling shot

from by back

pocket and shoot

out the light

of the moon,

that every night

I would  see

reflected

in your eyes.

don't know

how I will ever

 get over that.

Another step

I saw
a man die
this morning,
it was
real
it was
hard,

right
between
my eyes.

a heart attack
struck
him down.

and no matter
how righteous
the fight
they could not
save him.

it happened
right outside
my restaurant
table window,

between my
morning coffee
and the local
newspaper"s
Monday morning
adds.

and while
it all
went on
the wife
stood

Stories from the road / the nowhere poems

Last night I
tripped
over you,

walking
half-awake
through
a dream.

like magic

the curtain
pulled back,

the wizard
exposed.

we looked
at each other
and laughed,

but said
nothing.

no time
to ask
directions

on the yellow
brick road.

where past
lovers
burden our
backs

like
old suit
cases
full of
lies

and no
place
is ever

called
home.

and true love

Your alright with me / the nowhere poems

A deep
drink of you

and I
tilt back my head.

and drive till the
first light of morning breaks
this evenings
back.

I roll
down
my windows.

tear off
the rear
view
mirror.

nothing
I ever
want
to see
face
to face

again.

let all
of your
adolescent
lovers
crawl back
and hide
under
your gypsy
covers,

like
puppets
dangling
from your
strings
of desire.

you wil...
