Discharge

Someone said it: Time is a thief.

It takes a part of us each day.

At first, it doesn’t seem too much:

A single hair, a shard of skin,

A tiny speck of recollections;

But the tally mounts, the mirror

Documents this slippery slope.

Time, we know, is a one-way bet;

Such a lot goes unrecorded.

Our memories cannot keep up,

So even at our peak the gaps

Expand like hu...

Fall

I walk a fine line

With a clock enshrined

Between damp palms intertwined.

The autumn crisp,

Prayers on lips,

On marooned beds, I climb uphill.

But orphaned leaves of the fall

And people who crawl

Seldom stand tall.

And so, the sun's wary glint

Smokes my brittle shins.

My knees give in.

Deepening sighs,

Rust-riddled signs,

The woods...

Taps Upon the Forehead

I was driven down the highway

In a spanking silver car

24 and looking for an answer

But hadn’t gotten very far

And as I looked across my shoulder

To the school kids running by

Their hopeful eyes seemed dampened

By the clouded grey of mine

The suffocation only stops

Just when the lights go down

But from the land into the sea

In morning light, I drown

My moti...

Limerence

I feel time passing like nails on my skin

Piercing, commanding, but ephemeral

It floats by while I'm left to singe within

Nursing echoes that ring true like spells

Against the auroral skies my head bows down

But never hangs heavy

Evergreen vinyls, abandoned hometown

You still lurk in the shadows of my periphery

I see you when my hands cradle my head

And when I'...

Clocking out

It's all in the mind they say

Hopes and dreams at the end of another day

Clocking in and clocking out is a waster's way to live

We should be thriving and conniving to forge a life of our own

It's all well and good 'clocking-in' and 'clocking-out'

But I want to live before time runs out

Watching the clock all day, tick-tocking all the way

What's the point in it all anyway?

The Price of Years

Everyone wants to grow old, but no one wants to be old.

All long to see the years in gentle rise,
Yet none would dwell where age has made its home;
The mirror bends the truth of weary eyes,
And hearts protest a fate they call their own.

The body, once a vessel tuned to speed,
Now trembles under weight of time’s command;
Each step recalls a fire that once would lead,
Now falters li...

A Kind Of Splendour

It had gone from your eyes when you saw me

The light that used to adore me

It dimmed to a mist in the forest

Where a canopy of leaves once fell for us

They fell like colourful snow

As we laughed & danced in its flow

Wondering if we could stay there forever

Thinking life was full of this splendour

But, time came & took you away

And the only thing that I could...

"Clockwork Reverie"

Tick tock — the echo mocks,

Time slips through paradox,

A ghost in velvet gloves, unseen,

Dancing deep where thoughts convene.

Murky depths and rhyming schemes,

Fractured poets chase their dreams,

Feathers inked with crimson lore,

Minutes bleeding evermore.

The spool unwinds, the tongue forgets,

What once was sung now drips regr...

Close to the fire

I'm on the edge of myself,
where skin is not enough
and desire spreads
like a nameless flame.

On your body - a mirror of absence -
I search for myself:
a burning instant
between now and nevermore.

The flesh longs for verb,
but all is silence
when I touch you with my soul.

I am a lit shadow,
I am a blind word,
wanting you
where you no longer are.

And in the dark of the room

The Oval, 1965

It is through events and at gatherings

That the meaning of time is understood.

As we pack together in a huddle,

Time passes us by and yet it connects

And joins us as one, like links in a chain,

When we combine, as indistinct as rain.

Sixty years ago, I was in a crowd,

Some of whom were there sixty years before;

This summer I see some with years ahead.

This cycle con...

Only for the wind

I got lost in myself, like the wind that dances without reason
And I looked at the sky, as if it were my last thought
but it just looked back, without promises
I tried to understand, but what is understanding?
Will I ever understand?
Perhaps understanding is just another illusion of the mind

And longing, ah, longing became a shadow
that follows me and touches me with its invisible hands

A New Nursery Rhyme

Tick, tock, distant star

How I wonder when you are

Just a timepiece in the sky

Your every 'now' another lie!

Thinking

i am numb to the outside

as it whirls around me

passing me by

am i frozen in time?

or flying so fast

that the blur begets stillness?

Either answers the same, for

the moments melt into morrow

and now is never again

The day, elusive

like the mouse

and the dark night, quick

and clean as a cleaver

the only time

I stop and think

Miracles

Around me, the unseen miracle

Of the past: the birds in the tree—the hills—the clouds—the people passing by,

I am at the centre of my time

And they are all in the past

What stranger miracles are there?

Single Speed

Now that the weeks and days and months fly by,

Propelling us still faster to our end,

The needed action is to hold up time,

To slacken off, or better still, suspend

Its uncouth march into the wild beyond

And celebrate its capture as its bond.

But if time should comply, what must we do?

Display ourselves and prance around a pole,

Or willingly obey a quiet void?

Time,...

Kaleidoscope Memory

Like the first mirror reflects whats before it
I live in the past
Anchored by my commitments
I failed to take that class

The angle of time constricts at a point
Silent in its steps despite how vast
Ranging millenia little by little
The promise is a lie you can not outlast

Through the scope I inspect my thought
Regret is not the word because I have made peace
Feel the grip of anxi...

The Three Wishes

An old man, burdened by life's hardships, sits alone on a park bench, lost in sorrow. A stranger, offering three wishes, appears before him, promising a chance at happiness. But what begins as a fleeting opportunity soon turns into a journey of regret, as the man’s impulsive wishes lead him to face the true cost of his desires. Based on Erich Kästner's fairy tale, this thought-provoking tale explo...
