Prove them wrong

Prove them wrong , I know it's hard

you are strong, just drop your guard

And do the things you never could ,

the things they said you never would ,

cos life's to short to hide away ,

to be too scared to face the day .

So Push yourself through "scary" things

release yourself from puppet strings ,

that hold you back from living life,

that make you sad , that causes stri...

A Gun in My head

In my head, I hide a gun
its pointing at me and thats no fun
it reloads every time I whirl my head
around something not worth the dread

The safety is off, my feelings may pull the trigger
One more worry, and the gun would fire, I figured
Its heavy, not the gun, but my thoughts
They work well together like tight knots

Dearest bullets, stay the fuck away from me
'Cause I’ll be tempted t...

My chest hurts

It’s the weighted chest pain

That’s hardest to explain

The interwoven, the lingering

It spins a web across every day

It’s the fog you learn to see through

Because you can’t get away

Never the needle in your eye

The thorn in your side

It’s the routine of soft pain

The clingy sting for life

It’s the dull ache

Freedom, but on a leash

Your mother's kiss with tee...

The Price of Liberty

The Others, we are told to fear,

they point at strange and different folk,

whose foreign tongues upon our streets,

and foreign food and foreign dress

might “dilute our Britishness”

as if it were an orange squash.

But evil is resident, not afar,

the enemy spread their fear and scares,

whilst warning us, look, foreign folk

have come to steal your homes and jobs,

...

Nutter School

There's one strange place he goes every week

Where they dare to mean what they speak

With ease and clarity

They do this as Charity

Naming it something that oozes bile

So vagrant, offensive but with a smile

He cares alot for this place

To make my money and save face

The kids are Chidren and not Young People

To spare the blushes of the steaple

Such flippant st...

Samaritan

Today lived a Samaritan,

Young in spirit.

Strong in hope.

Simple in delivery.

Wise in tone.

Flamboyant in joy.

Eager in care.

Fanciful in dream.

What an idea,

To be a volunteer!

Missing People

I still remember

Cold faces in my bedroom

Smiling women in the dark

Slicked hair, teeth sharp

I still remember

The man whose legs

Popped out from under my bed

And I screamed

Broad daylight was frightening

Heart speeding, head beating

The men who moved closer towards me

All I could do was freeze

I’d stare back

With sucked breath, shaking knees

Day afte...

Home

My dear fellow writers,

It's been quite a while since I wrote something and even longer since I posted on this site. It wasn't merely a lack of time that caused this break. My life has been a roller-coaster ride filled with strange occurrences and emotions I never thought I would feel. It was crushing to experience them, but enlightening to know that they can be overcome. However, it's not eas...

Mental Health

Mental health today is a complex matter.
Where stigma judges all to be mad as a hatter.
But there's no shame. There's no disgrace.
It's something of which we'll have to face.

So don't be afraid and feel no guilt.
And with help our lives can be rebuilt.
So of mental health we must now speak.
It doesn't mean we're strange or weak.

So do not run or try to hide,
But find someone in which ...

MIRED IN

A bony child, a sick child

Wades through muddy water, stumbles over battered roads

A quiet child, a trodden child

Eats with hunger, with greediness

A shy child, a violent child

Runs after street vendors and dogs, cons the benevolent

A street, a war, a game to play.

A bony child, a sick child is her-

Me.

A traumatized child, a ragged child

Stomping around hospi...

Lepers on the hill

Across a road, a tranquil sight

Where animals graze to a shepherds delight

In the warm glow of a spring's dawn

A summer's heat is soon to be born

But across this tranquil hill

Is where the "looney's" roam and madness spills

Torn from family's and lost to war

Their minds scream through a padded door

Nurses rush to aid the wounded

Thrashing and yelling - who woul...
