The Others, we are told to fear,
they point at strange and different folk,
whose foreign tongues upon our streets,
and foreign food and foreign dress
might “dilute our Britishness”
as if it were an orange squash.
But evil is resident, not afar,

whilst warning us, look, foreign folk
