The poet’s fight

I have always heard
That love is a war
That it’s a battle of feelings
That can go very far

And in this serious battle
I am one of the players
I am the one fighting
To achieve my prayers

I need to be strong
And use everything I can
I need to be myself
I need to have a plan

I need to strike first
I need to give the first blow
I need a good impression
I need anything to show

B...

Into the depths of my being

To discover myself
I need to dive into the depths of my being
To truly understand
What I'm feeling

I need to dive
In the ocean of my perception
Deeper and deeper inside
Till the source of my conception

And at the bottom of my soul
I can see the fragments of my story
The shells of my feelings
In their past glory

I can see the peebles
Of my pure desires
That were strong convictio...

Resolution

Don't want to be waiting to live,
Don't want to be waiting for death.
Though the tide repeats outward and back,
Take a stand on the sand as it shifts.
Look around and be thankful
For this
May be all that there is.

Then the sun is the jewel that I own,
And it's greater than all that I don't,
And the moon is the pearl that surpasses
All others wherever they be,
And the water that sust...

The writing process

It's always the same New Year's resolutions for me...to write more often! Happy New Year to all ...

At First

Just a thought

Then some paper

The words

They came later

QWERTY was flirting

But kindly

I declined

It's demand

Held a pen

In my hand

And began

Three Poems in Tana

1: An Old Transformation

Her body

cold

as sea ice

lay before me

broken

by life’s swell.

I remembered

the pull of her currents and tides,

her surging waves and deeps

And I knew

I could no longer navigate

the course

we had set

so long before

As she lay before me

still, pale, cold

I wept:

for ever

becalmed

2: Lovers

Naked

First Fight

There were tears

Rolling down my face.

I never was a pretty crier,

So I looked away.

Heard your voice

Over my heavy breathing,

Crying harder when you said

You weren't leaving.

I hold tight to everything;

Knuckles white from my grip.

If I let go, even a little,

My whole world could slip.

I've been afraid, though,

To hold onto you.

My heart ga...

Bullets from the soul (New Year's Resolutions)

Dodging and ducking,

Running and jumping,

Spinning down...

Life has caught a spirit.

A moment has caught a life,

A lifetime changed in a moment.

A child who is the man,

The man who was the child.

Climbing and sliding,

Loving and losing,

Falling down...

Bullets invade the man.

A soul is invaded by a bullet,

A bullet that came in a moment,

A m...

Resolution #9

Resolution #9

A cascade of sparks
exploding in the blackness
of a revellers sky
like bright tears.

Crying for the homeless
sat where the light
doesn’t fall,
under archways,
behind garages,
in cardboard boxes.

Damp and cold
while a flaming wheel
greets the crescent moon
as it circles.
A metaphor
of the turning year.

Out with the old and needy,
in with the bright young thin...

Old Tyke Blues

Old Tyke Blues

I woke up this morning -

found my leg was dead.

Slipped as I got up

and banged my head,

fingers to temple

came away red,

trail on the carpet

where I had bled.

Went down for breakfast -

the milk had gone sour,

turned on the toaster -

a distinct lack of power.

Go back upstairs,

stand under the shower -

water is...

I want to kiss you at midnight - Sir Benjamin character piece

I want to kiss you at midnight - Sir Benjamin poem
by OpenMind on Sunday, 2 September 2012 at 12:21 ·

I want to kiss you at midnight,

feel the wibbly-wobbly ripples of time.

I want to kiss you at midnight

staring deep into your eyes.

Though it may take time,

time is of t...
