Just Another Day in the Coffee Shop

it’s not always that you catch the eye

but there are times

where you simply can’t deny

the connection that the 'eye' implies

remember the eye. it never lies

it happens to be a sunny day

a young man seats solo at a cafe

with a coffee in hand

in and out he breathes air

he is observant per usual

allowing it all to simply pass

a beautiful women he spies

And why?

And why are you still in my head?

In my chest,

In my soul?

Engulfed by disdain, disgust and love.

And I am so lone.

In the middle of Oxford Street crowds

I want your advice that never helped

I want your forehead kisses that I rejected.

Longing for you on dark silent nights.

To debate: am I ever truly alone?

Or does your phantomlike presence ignite and guide...

Red Granite

Listen closely and hear

To know what the dawn needs

Tired eyes and a drifting thought

You must be astronaut sat upon God’s knees

Closer to hear

What the colors of dawn needs

Poppyseed fields at the foot of a valley

The crimson of God’s teeth

Content

I am content to love you,

Knowing I will never be loved in return,

For it is better to give than to receive,

And loving is better than being loved.

The happiness the thought of you brings me

Is enough.

If I cant hold you in my arms,

Then I will hold you in my thoughts

And be satisfied,

Knowing that you live in my mind

And can never leave me.

Roadside Wildflowers

I hope the stars

Always twinkle for you.

I hope the flowers

Always bloom for you.

I hope the sun

Always shines for you.

I hope the moons

Always bright for you.

I hope the sunset

Is always your favorite color.

I hope your ocean’s

waves are always calm.

I hope your river

Always runs true.

I hope the rain

Never lasts too long.

Criminals

The red light

And its stunning sight

Remind me of

Our lips when they fight

The blue blaze

As the siren plays

Reminds me of

Your eyes and their gaze

I didn’t care that I

Was being arrested

I don’t even fear to die

If my love gets contested

Because my love is real

Even if it is a crime

Being guilty isn’t a deal

To love is, this time

In a...

Up Close

Who is he?

This man I only know up close?

Does he know me? And if so,

who is this woman, this me he knows?

We have an odd situation, he and I, like a fantasy played out on a stage,

a performance, a curtain call and

then done.

I know the up-close, the heat, the physical

yet when I see him from a cool distance,

I don't know him.

He becomes someone else with someone el...

My last night, in the flat we almost shared

You've already left.

537 miles North of me, of us.

I'll ruffle up to join you in four (agonising) weeks

but to my unconcerned shame,

I'm too sad to sleep in that bed without you, too ungoverned.

Nostalgia, even the warm kind, is too much feeling for me.

Something about it has always made my lipids curdle

and an unpleasant tickle cloud in my brain.

The street ou...

No Need to Talk of Love

No need to talk of love

Some things are better left unsaid

I didn’t tell you then

And I can hardly tell you now

Although some days I find the thought hanging on my lips

Deep inside I’ll say the words

I can see them like hot breath on a cold night

Though I can’t say them out loud

Better to wait for darker days

For eulogies perhaps,

For talking about the ...

Nothing More

I think of you, chastise myself,

And press your name away

Ignoring, stubbornly, the fact,

You’re present every day

I don’t ask why I cannot help

But seek your commentary

On every task, or smile of mine-

A wish I cannot bury

I say, embarrassed at myself,

That this affair ends now.

This fantasy, this made-up game,

I cannot keep allowing

After...

Poetry Prompt: 'Forever is composed of nows'

Just the right amount of squeeze

at my hip

of a lemon

on the pasta we craft for each other

of the sponge he knows I don’t like to touch when wet.

A tongue, a croissant, a bottom smack,

exactly when we wanted one

A well-timed tease, balletically treading that tightrope line

from this now, to the next, to the next to the next please

Moments studded above our ...

5 things I remember from the beginning

Giggles and winks at romantic excess

The mountains seem like overkill yes

I’d said with a grin that shone my delight

And fastened my thighs steel clam-snap tight,

The still of his stare, blue-blazing and prised

By billows of sun emulsified

In bright, surf-swept skies and slick seas of cloud,

Long salted kisses, wet noses bowed,

Collateral pass...
