Have You Noticed

Have You Noticed?
after Mary Oliver

have you noticed how certain poems linger
in the echoes of yesterday

how certain triggers replay
a certain phrase

how hanging onto words
engulfs an empty room

how walking through fields
begets velvet moonlit nights listening to you

how spinning a record after dropping a needle
births a mountain of longing and sorrow

have you ever notic...

Siren

 Sleek, below indigo

A mastery of dancing light,

She swims among waves.

Floating nothingness surrounds

Time stopped on beauty

As her deep eyes look up.

Diamond scales

And ivory hands

Reach toward sunlight.

Mysterious soul,

Treasured, rare wanderer,

Gyspy of the sea,

Song of timelessness,

and enduring breathlessness,

She swims eternal;

A captor of her s...

Just a Bit Torn

My whole body reacts

to the image of you in my head,

As I lay impassioned in bed.

I have never been more aware of the material that encapsulates the mounds on my chest.

My hips move involuntarily, my cl*t pulsates,

seemingly to my quickened heart and shallow rapid breaths.

I can see clearly your lips, your mouth,

those discerning eyes  that I love and hate in equal amounts.

~You let me into your intimacy

From a thousand miles away.

My eyes gripped the small of your back

And cried at the renaissance of your skin.~

Longing

Transference and its counter

Am I making an impression...

Do I leave you bewildered with every expression...

Do you look forward like I do to our weekly sessions...

Or are my scribbled musings akin to aggression...

An unbecoming, pathetic vie for attention...

I find you delightful and have a genuine fascination...

I am curiously eager, feelings bordering on intoxication.

But, apparently in therapy t...

A Client's Woe

When shadows go into hiding

And dreams run wild

I imagine you all stripped down and bare

All facades shed

Thoughts of me invade your head...

Or so I wish, a girl can dream

I miss you, I want you

If only I could scream

These words out loud

Remove the shroud

Say them loud

Say them proud...

But I mustn't disturb the peace

What is unknown must remain ...

no return address

sew my eyes shut
tape my mouth closed
board me up in a box
& send me off

attach the postage
drop me off
at the post
don’t open

until i see you there
and i hear you say ‘my love’
and i feel you
next to my warm skin

until then, leave me here

How many times do we take the leap
Before we realize we’ve jumped in too deep

How many times do we stop to realize
We need to protect our insides

How many times does this heart have to break
This love, you too shall take

He was the one,
Healing the deepest scar,
The wound he created,
Only to tear it open again
As he twists the knife
Churning everything inside of me

Train to Nowhere

Based on the opening scene of Stardust Memories.

...

The clock ticks in desperation to move us along, to where we belong.

Our eyes remain forward, no longer looking back.

The man in seat 2B sobs with tears streaming down his face. He’s left his life in his old place.

I soak in the faces of passengers around me, stern looks all around.

All longing for company, for answers that c...

the lack of you

There have been numerous occasions where I'd have to close my eyes to stop from crying

Watery; blurry; black

Nights without you are sleepless

But I'm pretty sure you can sleep just fine

Even if you prefer another next to you, it's not that you prefer me

I could count the stars all night, but I'd still never sleep

And maybe I'd always blame insomnia for being the lack of ...

Entreaties

Entreaties

My gums are bleeding again.

There’s a stack of papers that need attention

But I can’t find my glasses.

My truck is making that funny noise.

I sleep too late

Because no one wakes me.

I don’t write

I feel it’s all been said.

I find I’m repeating myself

No one takes me seriously

Your point’s been made:

I am selfish and fickle,

Say whate...

Half-Life

We were reckless with love.

Swans dancing on a lake of fire;
unfinished art searching for the
Louvre.

Quiet & loud.

Hungry & fed.

Bones full of broken stars
and twilight;

sapiosexual
astronomers
with the temerity
to traverse galaxies
hidden between the
braille on our skin,

foolish enough to believe
desire this strong would
take a half-life to
decay.

Meeting in Solitude

Minds meeting
words spoken
stories shared
world is hushed
but inside we are all screaming
waiting for the tomorrows
when our meetings will be filled with embraces,
with kisses,
with reading a silent stare
and we will know what they mean
not just from a frozen screen
but for a reflection of all time

We are all waiting for the tomorrows
we will no longer meet in solitude
but a meetin...

Cold

Just lay your hand
in mine
when I´m shaking
because the frost
is running through my veins

Just lay your hand
in mine
when my eyes flicker
and all I can see
is darkness

Just lay your hand
in mine
you don’t have to do
anything
you don’t have to say
anything

Just lay your hand in mine
I just need to know
I´m not alone
out here
in the cold

Desire

Corners caress the bricks

breading that familiar shape,

in which to pace fingertips,

reimagine and fall

the abode of cliché,

the same smitten desires,

plotted here in prints of feet

the way they moved,

the way they moved,

the way they moved,

nostalgic tracks swoon you low

to the floor, roused but not here.

The Flower

Once when I was young I chanced upon a flower

Wild and free it was the most beautiful thing I had seen

And I wanted it for my own

To care for this flower

To show it off to the world

This beautiful flower that was my own

Through spring and summer

I  watered, I watched and I helped it to grow

And the flower basked me in its glory as it did so

But I had to le...

Another Love Poem

How many times does it cross your mind

Maybe a thousand times

I’d rather have you near

Than only have your poems reciting in my ear

Sure, they comfort me

But most days and nights I need you miserably

And those heartbreaking songs

They make me feel like we belong

Despite the truth of our existence

I wish to be in your presence

So here’s another love poem

Remember Me

Darkest days

Be my brightest night

When I felt that sun glow touch

Emanate from your soft smile

Coldest wind be the

Torture of my skin

While your love seals me in

The violet of the dawning sky

The scarlet of the new sunrise

Is all I feel when you’re nearby…

Wait no…

This is but a memory…

Grab my heart and never let go

Do you remember that ...

You

Enchanting, charming

Kind and caring.

How I fall for this disarming lie

Cunning, swift

Capturing and setting adrift.

A mind so confused

Looking for a missing muse.

There was a sign

Didn’t you see?

A warning of note

But no, you let it free.

Heart so soft and bruised

She doesn’t need to be used

But…it’s her fault

She must bring it to a halt

I long for warm hugs on rainy nights

I long for good conversations on sunny days

I long for you in a time that isn’t yet for us

I long for us.

Stare

I saw you

I saw you wait

I saw you stared

I saw you walked by

I saw you dropped your shoulders and sighed

I wish you could have seen me staring at you too.

In a Sea of Lonely Nights

A lonely boy in a sea of lonely nights

in that last hour of the day

capturing words he wishes he had said

writing them down

so they’re out of his head

Music fills the air

soothing the tension

lessening the cares

Take a trip to the other side:

what makes the other person tick,

what makes them come alive,

what’s in their head they’re trying to hide
