Mermaids (Remove filter)

Mermaids from Monkeys

In 1842, there was
a travesty called 'The Fiji Mermaid,'
composed from the torso
of a dried monkey corpse fastened
to the tail end of a fish--
Megaphoned mouths
of carnival barkers touted
the splendor of the
so-called 'genuine' mermaid
and seduced willing suckers
'born every minute,'
to dish out oceans of hard-earned money
just so they could gawk at the mocking
man-made monstrosity.

The Happy Mermaid

There once was a beautiful mermaid,
She lived down in the sea.
She sang just like an angel,
And she always smiled with glee.

There once was a beautiful mermaid,
She had lovely long blue hair.
Her eyes - they were like diamonds,
And her skin was soft and fair.

There once was a beautiful mermaid,
And she loved to swish her tail.

In Search of Mermaids and Lighthouses

In search of mermaids and lighthouses

is where you will find him and me.

Seeking sea things sets us free

from daily monotony,

broken hearts,

Advil bodies.

We thrift shop with childlike wonder,

forgetting about adult things

stagnant relationships,

mortality.

Mermaids and lighthouses

beckon us to dive into a green-flag

ocean of time

Where the sea meets the sky.........

At the end of the world where the sea meets the sky,

there's a small strip of land where the mermaids lie.

Where they chit and they chat, or play and have fun,

Now it's rare to see a mermaid, and you may never again,

so to see a whole shoal is a rareness x 10.

But this is what happened, or so it is told,

to a young keen explore...

Bellow

I could fill a barren sea
full of tears I've shed
for a moment with you.

I learned to focus only
on the good it led to.

What purpose does it serve
to open old wounds

except to serve the
greater good.

So, I bellow not

unless it can be
a beacon

for mermaids
coming ashore.

The Beauty

{ This about the Moon and her grace. }

The moon is so full and bright
it's beauty is powerful and the light bending and
turning for everyone to see her beauty.
Can I touch your beautiful spirit?
The way you pull the waves and whisper in the wind,
can people not see that the beauty lays within the moon?
Pull me closer, turn me into one of you.
I feel your beauty trapping me in your gaze,
