Battlegrounds of the Heart

And all at once

We revisted the site

Where the wounded lie

We examined their injuries

Doing our best to determine

If they were fatal

It requires a detached rationale

It laughs in the face of pure emotion

For life is smarter than you think

Forever your opponent

Even when pretending

To be a friend

For life brought me you

Star crossed

And ...

Forever

Forever ago may seem
like 20 years of gray,
but I live forever every day.

There is no escape.

It's not the passion I miss,
I keep that memory sealed
in a concrete kiss.

It's the lyrical
soul connection
that went on months

before our egos
got in the way.

In the forever between
tears and heartbreak,

we managed
to find ourselves

and our destiny, here
on this pag...

Hair elastic bangles around a wrist
Notches carved into a bedpost
One size down a leather belt
Bathroom stall in the back bar

Live a lie but love a kiss
Short lived bliss
Sun rise and sun run
A wrap dress undone

No, I don't mind
You should know I don't mind
I do this all the time
Please don't ask me if I'm fine

Because a warm sip of fire that rests in the chest,
Is better ...

eternal chase.

He is the blue earth
Awed;
But with oceans too deep to explore

I am his sun
Scortched;
But he needs the warmth of my core to survive
- To thrive

I chase him right round infinitely
Indefinitely
For he will only let my light shine
Half of the time

sorry.

A shot of water cannot quench the thirst
Of the vast Sahara

A drizzle cannot cease the heat
Of a family home gone up in flames

And 1000 pages of penned out "I'm sorry"
Cannot change the way your eyes look right through me

ringleader

She didn't use you
But you did have a use

You didn't lose her
But you tightened her noose

Too cowardly to step off your stool;
Not a lion,
She is but a cub

It's your call
behind that curtain,
Ringleader

in love with a need.

I do not resemble a garden rose:
But I resemble every thorn
And the crimson I drag out of you when you try to pick me
Rivals the crimson I've spilled onto the petals

I do not resemble a white flag;
For I am not the peace you seek
I am a pistol you put to your temple willingly
But I'll be the one to pull your trigger

I do not resemble a castle;
But I do share the same grey walls
Onl...

heart is where the home is.

Home is where the heart is
And my heart beats with a constant ache to be home
But when you have no place to call home
Where does the heart reside?

Is it just an empty space?

Until you find a place
To call your own

Until you find an embrace
That makes you feel less alone

Until you find a face
That will call you to come home
Heal my ache...

Call me home.

Cliff Hanging

I feel my mind slipping,

almost dangling from a cliff.

Obsession and love are different,

Yet similar with a twist.

You left me in the cold,

And so I left you behind.

Although it breaks my heart

this is my time to shine.

To fend for myself,

That was the first lesson,

A scared little girl,

With no direction.

Which way do I turn?

D...

Soul Scars

There you are beaming
at everyone you meet
posting highlights,
keeping it together.

But, I see your soul scars...
loneliness, heartbreak,
disappointment, addiction,
depression, despair...

It's enough to turn
most souls to dust.

But not us.

Diamonds are made from
coal under pressure.

Show your scars,
keep the faith,
and shine on.
