The Lizard

the lizard lay

motionless

not dead,

just content

soaking in the golden rays

bathing in the summer warmth

nestled soundly

atop his rock

 

eyeing the rising sun

and minding the heat

sure to follow

soon to drain the life from his limbs

dry the life 

from his domain

 

and soon, each breath

grows heavy with the weight of the last

not quite on pace

Oh......     another day  .... thrown away
                another pain .... nothing gained


       Stride on - to the sunlight
       Stride on - through the shadows
       Stride on - even though it's night
       Stride on - to the 'morrow

Late September Morn

I, dreamlost,

wake

to golden leaves of beech

sunlit

from my bed

as airdew clouds over the hedge

rise and vanish

as the eastern horizon above the valley

is lost, sunk

beneath dawndrifts of mist

not yet warmed to fade

beneath the clear blue sky;

the uncut grass of the dew-wet lawn,

droplet bent:

cool promise as

I, barefooted,

explore

Night is blinding

The road seems eternal with colorless blobs surrounding its path

With little to look at leaving me fearful and uncertain

It twists and turns as if a blowing curtain

The moon sheds some light 

Too weak to guide my way

It sits and awaits to be chase by the sun

And reveal this dark world around

So I will follow this road till tomorrow

And begin once again

On a new horizon's...
