Restless Inner Solitude

Restless Inner Solitude

Alone amongst others

lost in a crowd

alienated without choice

friendless with no voice

killing time alone

a desire to speak

an inability to do so

cocooned in a crowd

self imposed exile

inner repression

detached from humanity

seeing but not speaking

but why?

Passchendaele (RE-POST)

Passchendaele

[Here's a poem I originally blogged in 2014 with a link to the audio I produced for it on Soundcloud - it is a collection of 8 haikus]

https://soundcloud.com/the-man-at-the-back-1/passchendaele

Blind, wide open, eyes.

Dripping poppy petal tears.

Crimson rivers flow.

Fields transformed to mud.

Deep cut trenches scar the earth.

Wounds that will not heal.

THE DANCE

You work so hard

to woo me

Once I surrender

you become less tender

Your fingers forget

my number

Contacting me encumbers

you

It's a dance that needs

to come to an end

So I can begin

my new life

No longer a wife

I need a new man

To hold my hand

and lay next to me in my bed

Bodies warm with slumber

Both of us under

Each others spell

Skin

I've shed my skin a million times

Sloughing off the dead cells

Standing in a snowstorm of

Flake and dust

But every new skin appears the same

Same thoughts

Same emotions

Same old conditioned behaviours

Where is my new beginning?

Where is the skin that wears

It's heart on the outside?

Love is such a funny thing.

It can

But if can also give you the greatest fulfillment ever

It can

But it can also be the thing that lets you sleep at night

It can

But it can also help you grow as a person.

Then and now

Lucid lovers we were,
Troublesome partners we became

Blessed was relation, contended our spirits
Ruined is now relation,
ruffled in its spirits

Every moment together was pure moment of joy,
Everyday of forceful essence which sheerly killjoy

Gone are the days, we adored those sparkling eyes
Tears now keep rolling and we smile in just disguise

Persona was such which radiat...

The Senses

I can't hear the whispering of the trees,
I can't feel the tall grass tickle my skin,
I can't smell the blooming flowers,
I can't taste the salty ocean breeze on my lips,
I can't see the good in the world anymore.
I hear my quiet sobs while alone,
I feel the pain of lost hope,
I smell the blood of a broken heart,
I taste the bittersweet memories of us,
I see a vast emptiness inside me.

I didn't visit you today

Did you notice?

Were you there?

I didn't say your name today

Did you notice?

Do you care?

I didn't send you love today

Did you notice?

Is this fair?

I didn't reach for you today

Time to Rhyme and Say Hello

I looked at my computer and saw your name at the top,

Write Out Loud, and I had to stop.

It has been a while...since last I wrote,

I thought I would stop, and blog a note.

The clocks are are all chiming,

While I do my best at rhyming.

I have not really got much to say...

So, I guess I'll be  on my way.

Hello, and goodbye... I hope you all have a great day!

Same Sh*t, Different Day

standing there silent, feet on the ground
in a world of my own whilst folk rush around
in every direction, this seething throng
is it just me, am I in the wrong
am I the only one in this crowd
not making a noise but wanting to shout
and scream at those that are nearby
I shrug my shoulders, let out a sigh
all going to the office, a corporate ideal
sterile surroundings, same look and feel

( the First poem performed -)

Reflection:

How is it possible to hate yourself this much
But love yourself so much, too,
I asked.

Because you’re a narcissist,
He said.
I don’t know if I agree with this.

What I do know
I say inside of my own head,
Is that too often I wake up screaming
Because of the Things I left unsaid
The things I wantonly said
The sutures I didn’t receive...

Crystal mind

Slow walk, soft conversations, persuasive in gesture, my guilty pleasure

Your eyes are damning, my heart is floating and my neck pulsating

A vicious beating,  what is black and what is white

And yet here I am, skinny and floating in the grey,

The catch was sudden,   my vision was  blurry

You found me starving, the restless yearning

You had my mind fuzzy, you made it  very c...

depression; women; myth

A thought from last night

The rolling waves of thunder rumble through surrey’s silent hills

Like a ripple of a wave upon the sea’s shore

This deafening clap of anger tortures through dense air for thrills

But why? Can we be so sure?

Could this be a God who is fuming with mankind?

Or the Earth perhaps is signalling there is something on her mind.

No Surrender

Another battle, another day
From afar, she seems to go
Happily on her way
What you don’t know is
She’s doing her best
To cope with incessant pain

With remarkable courage
She’ll give it a go
But the hurt is something
Only her Fibro buddies
Will really know

On good days it’s bearable
But incredibly, she’s been called a fake
Unsympathetic ignorance
From those whose b...

Great men die, and so they lie
In their tombs and graves
Glorified, magnified
By their followers and slaves

Quiet mounds on the Downs
Lasting through the many ages
May cover cruel tyrants
Rather than wise sages

All men must die, all tombs will lie

Xen

This is the Xen remaining in my mind.
These are the memories we mourn today:
they know no bounds, and cannot be confined.
These are the fingerprints you left behind;
These are the shadows that you cast away.

This is the Xen remaining in my mind
who fights to heal, to hope, and to unbind,
who helps the homeless build a place to stay,
who knows no bounds, and cannot be confined,

What Hides In The Shadows

We hide from the monsters in the light
But only because we fear the night.
Although, we never see what hides in the dark.
What is really lurking down in the park.

Has it ever occured to you that the monsters aren't under the bed?
That they're actually only in our head.
That we have taken a beautiful thing,
And twisted it to something evil and cruel.

We pit two old friends against each...

A Poem for Every Night

Is there something wrong with me?

No forget it, don't answer.

I don't need the diagnosis,

There's no need to say it,

Not even a whisper...

As the moon rises, the sky darkens...

It can't be helped.

As the place grows dark and time passes,

In this quiet home,

I start to feel alone.

The sinking feeling starts...

It's only 9pm and I feel alone.

Who can I...

THERE ARE ELEPHANTS ON THE ROOF

There are elephants on the roof,

I know that sounds absurd

But there’s elephants on the roof,

I know because I heard.

I am told it’s just a few pigeons

That think our caravan’s Heathrow

But waking at five in the morning,

I don’t believe this can be so.

My ears can hear quite enough proof,

There are elephants on the roof.

Pigeons are just much too small,

Closest companion

Sometimes this fellow follows,
sometimes he leads my way.
At times my closest companion
can still seem quite far away.

I don't doubt he's a dapper dresser,
he's oft spotted sporting a hat,
'though his figure frequently fluctuates
from tall and wiry, down to small and fat.

He is easily seen by moonlight
'though his profile is lower at noon,
and I've known him to get completely lo...

Home

Familiar walls become unfamiliar tunnels,
The heart isn't in here anymore,
Screams echoing the tunnels, yelling
Mom and dad sign the papers
Cracks coming up from the middle of the floorboards, the house is separating
The plants are dying, dried up leaves are falling on the ground that we once had family picnics on,
The roof doesn't shelter me the same, allowing nature to take its course, not...

WHY?

Why?  Is this world so cruel, so thirsty to enslave us?

Why is this world so violent breaking us slowly and slowly?

Why? Why can’t we do as our hearts want?

Why can’t we shine as fierce stars?

Why do we have to prove ourselves again and again?

We are just tired- tired of these opinions.

Fire

I realize that I am the fire that burns the foundation. I see that I am the reason that the once beautiful smile slowly faded day by day. Holding on to me is the same as clinging desperately the sharp edge of the sword. Slicing down the meat and severing precious vessels of life. I lay claim to the demise of your innocence

There was once a man.

There was once a man,

There was once a man,

bewitched with all.

He dare not speak,

No heart breaks evenly,

At just 17 when life seemed so empty

Your father and I, we got a bit friendly

And 9 months later you arrived at the scene

When I truly comprehended what love really means.

I love you more than life

And this love runs through me like a fire in my veins

A fire that will protect you from all the adversity and pain

We talked about how
