boat (Remove filter)

So long

It's been so long in this boat

We've been rowing

I can imagine the feeling of my feet touching ground

Circling, edging the deepness of the water to shallow

We never know anymore if its just quicksand

How would we risk flipping the boat to stand

We know where the pieces fit

We put them all back as the boat

There have been so many stormy nights at sea

Where the best of us ...

By The North Star

Unlike Robinson Crusoe

They got marooned

Without a ship-wreck but

They'll still lose track of time,

The old folk

For out of sight of land

They're snagged in a

Cross-current,

Wondering will they die,

One way or another,

Before its over.

I know for I'm in the same boat except

It's been longer.

Yet they are the lucky ones for

They've had a life, while for

Man Versus Marlin

In and out the sea doth sway

Erasing mans death and decay.

An old man's struggle,

No net, no sail. Only a flag

of permanent defeat.

Great fish swimming around and around,

the reel running, a screaming sound.

A Marlin swims, the ultimate catch,

only days to see if luck they will have.

The men struggle and pray away,

A massive catch needed to save the day.

Newport, Rhode Island

Crisp air cuts through my skin, like paper to skin

the warmth of the sun

heats the metal of the railing below my hand,

holding steady to the rough current below.

Ropes of green curl below the surface,

peeking through the waves,

currents whip past the haul,

my soul opens to the depths as I look out.

Past the cobbled staircase surrounding the light house,

and dri...

Un-Shore

Still at shore with the weight of gaffes around my dreams

Afraid to set a course

At odds with all but how it seems

Perception sits on the thrown of what is

What is not cannot stand to the claims of what should be

With demise almost a certainty

Almost - becomes the theme that moves me

Fastened to procrastination

Circumventing the truth

Giving ear to assumptions

Off the...

The Launch

Found the chords, the riffs are born,
got a front, an axe, a bass, some beats.
The song is written, the group is formed,
what name should the vessel take to the streets?

A mother?  A lover? Seek out a legend?
Symbolic?  Insane? Cast off the vote.
No taking the sis!  Impress my girl-friend
anchor success with a name like a boat.

Think of book; of a pub, of a film script;
see the soft s...

So Far From Home

So Far From Home

Under a curving shimmering blue fish bowl of the sky the small Patrol Torpedo boat cruises over the gentle summer swells in the distant Pacific under summer skies torn apart by brutal bitter total war. Small PT boats crewed by fifteen men ranging far and wide hunting for fat Japanese merchant ships. Boom! Go the torpedoes when a nice juicy target is found and a quick ...
