ALLEGIANCE

I swore allegiance to our Sovereign The Queen, her heirs and succcessors too.

Our Members of Parliament do the same, on behalf of me and you.

So I'll blame and shame those who are busy doing what they do -

Promoting and espousing the deeds and decisions of the ANTI-sovereign EU.

You can't plight your troth in favour of both; you can't be true to the TWO!

I want to catch a butterfly.
A pretty little butterfly,
Delicate, Beautiful, curving, intense, vibrant.

But not trapped in a net.
She chooses my rough hand,
Rather than a rich flower to provide for her.
Not a conservative or vain butterfly.
Not one that flutters around you,
But has an aversion to touch.

A butterfly that longs to be admired,

Seemingly nonsensical.

Bending and creaking

Ejecting splinters so small

And it can flow through you, reaching far

It is your call, and yours alone

With this His Belt to us He's given

His Breastplate of Righteousness is for guarding the heart

Excepting His love will help us start

Of a story with no conclusion,
A tale of souls, lost,
In search of a solution

A tragedy, a comedy,
A loop that never ends,
Same mistakes, made over,
'Til we all can make amends

In this vicious circle,
Few find their peace inside,
Hidden in the chaos,
Unseen by the naked eye

At a point along the journey,
The Way may yet be shown,
All the answers will come c...

An apology for probable Friends

I apologize most solemnly

To every sick,

Son of a bitch

Who evoked in me

A desire to diminish

Their assets and accolades,

In the groove of

An undulating adolescence.

Forgive me, friends

It seems to me

I hated you not

For what you had

Or the things you achieved

But for the guardian commemorations

That you received from you folks

And mine too.

From The Light Into The Dark

You stand before an empty horizon,

The silhouette of the trees running sharply across the bottom of the sky,

Eyes fixed on those soulless, black shapes in the distance.

Your gaze wonders up – slowly. The sky transforms before you

From the light into the dark.

The moon hangs – trapped in the dawn of engulfment,

The ground beneath you is dim – stretching to meet the light.

Porridge

Flat packet grains compress

To be levelled

then dispensed,

With milk added to twice the degree,

Stirred,

Placed in microwave,

Stirred,

Returned for half the spell of time.

Withdrawn,

Stirred.

Caught in the Spider’s Web While Cupid Shoots Arrows in My Head

You’ve gotta help me

Please

I know

I know

I know

There is something wrong with me.

It's an illness!

A disease!

But it's not,

It's foolish

And everyone

(excluding sociopaths)

Gets caught

In the messy web

Of the venomous spider

That is called

A crush.

God,

I have a crush.

I need help,

But his hair has these lovely curls,

He’s...

Recipe For Angela

(someone asked me the other day what it was that was keeping me so "well" because they wanted to bottle it to give to others....this is what I came up with)

A little pinch of madness to compliment a smile,

A tablespoon of strength to walk on another mile,

Mix in a little courage so you can win each fight,

This is the key ingredient so you must get it right.

Find a pen and ...

A Crescent

A picture I saw on a patch of wall

Dust and dirt hid the edges, the frame faded

The shades of black, setting the tone.

Reminded now of this grim sight

When walking home in the early hours

Lights blazing from bungalows, the never-sleeping

The cul-de-sac stretched and warped

Through shadows on the green.

To stay and keep vigil by the postbox

A solemn red flecked with peeki...

Ghost Story III (Part 16 and 16B)

Part 16 (A)

Broken inside out
The man in black
Waited outside central library

Hands lined deep
Inside his pockets
Until he nearly gave up
And went home

Smoking cigarettes
Repeatingly in a broken loop
Until another man
Turned up
His face lined
Like a rowboat

Coughing frantically
Knowing that their meeting
Would affect
More than
Just a few lives.

Thoughts

It is an anti-climactical relapse into the repression and suppression of life. You'll be on a cloud of positivity held in the captivity of optimism. And then as if your minds been hit by a tun of bricks that indicate the euphemism of the candidness of reality. As you get older you realise that the higher you climb the further it is to fall, so you get indecisive between the fear of failure and the...

Chicken sandwich at the Langham

I had a chicken sandwich at the Langham
I eat it until it was all gone
It was posh sitting there in the Langham
In 1991.

I had a chicken sandwich at the Langham
And although it cost me several arms & legs
It felt good sitting there in the Langham
And it made a change from Greggs.

Why is my heart indigo?

What could have been became what could have been

All else failed and crimson became me

Was not acquainted with lost before I meet you.

Could not imagine this disdain that inhabits me before I lost you

Felt your warmth from her warmth

Kissed your cheeks through her skin

You gave me life then lost yours living me at indigo

Flowers mark the spot

Sweet scent

Brittle petals

Tied to the railings

Flying My Birds

I fly the birds around this place

We chat amongst the trees

The wildlife up in this place

Contains a rainbow breeze.

The truth rises to the top

A quiet frozen mountain

I fly my birds up to the top

To chat and to surround it.

Discussing the monopoly,

Folks with greed in mind--

I'm the messenger of truth

Sending my birds to fly.

April 2016 Collage Poem: Riddles

Kerb crawl halt for furtive pleasures:

"I hope it's better now"

Icy as a boarding school shower

In mortal mind and nerve

A riddle is told...

What could it be no matter how I think

It is the wrong guess again!

Leaving you dumbfounded

Encoded in parrot-like movements

For April Fool's Day jokes

From day to night

Lost in Dickens, tonight is the best...

Life’s Own - Ill

     What World we could write,

If we valued all life,

A tenacious understanding

To protect all that’s living,

Be a human worth being!

Then what of death?

     No longer a morbid curiosity,

But the celebration of what had chance,

What breathed and gave fruit,

What lived by the Sun, Stars and Moon.

Battle of One

To the death, we say,
Breath licked with flame, spits to my face;
His face.
Racing temples pump furious blood
Through ferrous veins,
Manes rise, eyes blister with relentless rage;
Eventless.
Then, clenched fists draw clotted blood
Through plum knuckles.
My neck buckles,
His neck,
Cracking bone like tinder,
The interweave of puffed ribs and scarlet skin
Glisten with fetid sweat;

Idea of Being Me

I want to break free of your rules, labels, presumptions, assumptions and all your boxes

I want to feel free, have the wings without being hurt!

I am not a rebel,

I am an echo of my voice, my endless notions, ideas and dwellings.

I see the paths, hues and vengeances...

I still paint while the colors deceive...and so they do to all!

I see the broken hearts, the griefs and success

Downtrodden

When young you had a beauty

But you were born poor

So you will eat cheap food as

Your family can't afford any more.

You'll lose your teeth early,

Prematurely age,

Eek out an existence

On a minimum age.

You’ll be old when you're young,

No matter how you try

Downtrodden and disregarded

Until the day you die.

And generation come

And generations go

Did "Like"

I can honestly say thatthis is a pet hate of mine.  i do not have many, thank goodness, but this really gets me going.

Dis “Like”

There’s a little word I love and use,

That recently is being abused.

Out of context, it sounds absurd,

Miss-usage of this lovely word.

I use it when I want to say,

That things are nice in every way.

It’s also handy when you see,

Chewing Gum

Chewing gum

To console myself I eat a kipper
with a slice of bread and butter,
the morning spent in a bit of a dither
waiting for the telephone to blether

my hearts not in it and I prod kipper
around my bowl, the skin and bones of it
and the phone didn’t sing, so now I’ll receive
a letter explaining how grateful they are

how they wish me luck and when I say butter
I mean margarine ...

At the end of the garden,by the big old oak

Hidden away from inquisitve eyes,

Is a dwelling place for the little folk

usually mistaken for butterflies!

a soft green carpet under your feet.

It's easy to miss them, not clearly in sight,

the time they enjoy most, is quite late at night!

We danced to Cuban rhythms
Late into the night
I twirled my skirts in girlish glee
Giggling in delight
My heart it started pounding
As you held me tight
I waited for the kiss
That would bring me back to life
Then
Brutally it struck me
At the stroke of midnight
You were just an apparition
Your kiss turned into frostbite
