SIDINGS.

city of cape town

hooting loud

flirting outrageously

with a growing crowd

whistle is a-whistling

putting on a show

city of cape town

puffs and blows

fireman replenishing

diminishing coal

flickering doorway

of the stoker’s hole

engine three-six

double-five

keeping an age

of steam alive

leaky old joints

giving out a squirt

red-necked driver

sweaty old shirt

city of cape town

rattling loud

resplendent magical

mighty proud

Hi Nick, John Coopey's got me at the rail poems again. I read something like it at an Open Mike session in the Cape a while back now. Also had it published in the enthusist's rag.

Thanks for commenting. Thanks Dave. Working on the piccy idea. Cheers.

I like this Philipos. Made me want a picture to go with it, but maybe it is better with just the words and one's imagination.
