Biography

The memorable stories and award winning surrealist poetry of K. Kylyra Ameringer have earned her a loyal internet following. Her literary area 'The Written Word' immediately became a favourite at www.darkworld.com, and continues to be one of the most frequently read areas of the site. Fans still actively search for K. Kylyra Ameringer stories and poetry that have been out of internet rotation for years.

Born and raised in North America, K. Kylyra Ameringer began writing while still in school. Her poetry and short stories were featured in university press quarterlies and various anthologies. She became a member artist of Dark World International (then Dark World Productions) in 1996 and began publishing her work on the internet.

After a move and resettlement in Ireland, K. Kylyra Ameringer began developing The Demon of Petty Disturbances series. Originally intended as a short story, the characters and plot developments for the series now span an additional three novels (outlined with rough scenes written) with notes and ideas for future books as well.

The Poet

In the dustbin of the world
The poet lies bleeding

Railing against the light
Against the night-blooming poison
Stealing sacred dreams
And dew-fresh flowers.

His hands foreign things

His mind a maze of menace
To his soul;

He lost his words to the wind.

The moon judges him coldly,
A pencil shaded figure
Vomiting black ink.

The poet is no more;
Only the dust remains.

Afternoon Tea

There is movement in the trees.

A flash

A flicker of fanciful colour
And wings -
The birds are out for their afternoon tea.

They bob and whirl
A softly muted kaleidoscope
Changing patterns through the garden;

They come to gossip
And watch the washerwoman
In the window as she works,

Smiling.

Bantry, Co. Cork, Ireland - 15 June  2009 - Poets Express is pleased to announce the list of special guest performers appearing on 11 July 2009 in Bantry, West Cork, Ireland. Manchester (UK) performance poet, experimental sound artist and novelist AndyN; internationally known performance poetry troupe Scream Blue Murmur from Northern Ireland; poet, author, and journalist Derek Fanning from County Offaly; international actor, writer, and performance poet Cah-44; poet and non-visual and visual conceptual video artist VisionGhost from Dublin; poet and artist Dale Mawhinney from Belfast; and poet and video artist Tomas O Carthaigh from County Offaly are all scheduled for the evening.

Hosted by international performance artist, poet, and author Kylyra from Dark World International, Poets Express aims to provide the audience with a full variety of performance poetry from the beginner to seasoned stage performers, as well as a wide selection of poetic styles. "I carefully chose the special guests for the evening," according to Kylyra. "Tomas (O Carthaigh) and Derek (Fanning) both represent the very best of Irish poetry; their words capture the history, the landscape, and the spirituality of Ireland. VisionGhost's work has an epic, gothic nature to it, and AndyN's easy flowing, often quirky poetry will be an excellent contrast. Cah-44 has a hard hitting, syncopated rhyming style with an urban feel, while Dale Mawhinney paints free verse poetic images with his words that are as striking as his paintings. Scream Blue Murmur's spoken words, music, chants, and beats are sure to rock the audience from their seats, and I'll be adding my own upbeat theatrical style to the night as well."

Poets Express is a new night celebrating performance poetry in Bantry, West Cork, on 11 July 2009, 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at Bantry Boys' Club. The evening will have open time slots of five minutes each for anyone to get up on stage and share their work. Music will be provided by Shaky Dawg and Future Dialogue. Admission is free, and refreshments will be available. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. This event will be video taped and recorded for internet release. Poets Express gratefully acknowledges the kind support of Dark World International, Planet Mythos Video, JackieBlueWear, McCarthy Sports, and the fine businesses of Bantry.

The final list of special guest performers appearing at Poets Express in Bantry, West Cork, Ireland on 11 July 2009 includes international, UK, and Irish performers. With open time slots available to fill out the night of entertainment, Poets Express promises to be the poetry event in Ireland this year!
